In the first quarter of 2022, the music and audio app market in Europe saw notable trends across the top 5 applications. Here’s an overview of their performance based on data from Sensor Tower.

Smule: Karaoke, Sing & Record experienced a steady decline in weekly revenue, starting from approximately $227K in late December 2021 and ending at around $194K by the end of March 2022. Weekly downloads fluctuated, peaking at about 135K at the start of the quarter and dropping to roughly 94K by the end. Active users saw a slight decline from about 504K to 498K during the same period.

Ultimate Guitar: Chords & Tabs showed a consistent decrease in weekly revenue, beginning at around $263K and stabilizing at approximately $158K by the end of March. Downloads also saw a downward trend, starting at 39K and ending at 28K. Active users remained relatively stable, with minor fluctuations around the 700K mark.

StarMaker: Sing Karaoke Songs exhibited a varied performance. Revenue ranged from $89K to $71K throughout the quarter. Downloads started high at 560K, dipped to 394K by the end of March, but saw peaks in mid-February and mid-March. Active users increased significantly, starting from 959K and reaching over 1.1M by the end of the quarter.

VK Music: playlists & podcasts had a mixed quarter with revenue peaking at $322K in late February and ending at around $191K. Downloads increased from 69K to approximately 140K. Active users showed an overall upward trend, growing from 3.7M to nearly 3.7M by the end of March.

Yandex Music, Books & Podcasts started with high revenue at $410K, which gradually decreased to about $139K by the end of the quarter. Downloads fluctuated, beginning at 194K and ending at 197K. Active users rose from nearly 9.9M to over 10.9M by the end of March.
